John Nix is the founder and chief storyteller at Vertical Purpose, a ministry that guides people to find answers and discover purpose through Bible study. John also serves as a Teaching Pastor at The Orchard Church in Collierville, TN where he leads through expository preaching, teaching, disciple-making and, usually, helping folks laugh more and not take themselves too seriously.
Through high-energy, engaging, humorous and gospel-centered messages, John communicates the life-changing truth of Jesus Christ in a way that is easy to understand. He is deeply passionate about the authority of scripture, Biblical literacy, and equipping every follower of Jesus to be a disciple who makes disciples.

John is recognized as an influential communicator and is invited to speak regularly at conferences, retreats, revivals, camps, Disciple Now weekends and leadership training workshops, impacting people in the United States and around the world.
Behind the scenes, you may find John consuming caffeine in high volume (especially espresso and the coffee is always black), watching sports, listening to (and singing along with) his favorite opera aria, dreaming with his family about their next international trip, investigating the latest tech gadget, or speed listening through a variety of podcasts. Dancing is the norm at the Nix house, and everyone takes part. Ping Pong can get too competitive at times necessitating a quick transition to watching movies so the family can chill.
