"My job is to be faithful to scripture. The Holy Spirit and the word will do their work. My prayer is that when I finish preaching the hearers will see the beauty of Jesus Christ and walk away amazed by God’s grace."
– JOHN NIX
One More Verse is about addressing biblical illiteracy, making disciples, and serving the local church. John is serious about Jesus' command to make disciples, but he struggled to find a way to connect with people after events because of the nature of itinerate ministry. One More Verse offers an opportunity for ongoing ministry and discipleship after John leaves.
We always need more of God's word because humanity cannot live by bread alone. We all need one more verse. Reading the Bible is essential for a follower of Jesus, but it seems to be lacking in the lives of Jesus'followers. Even this reminder can become white noise because it is a foregone conclusion. Many miss the joys of communion with God through the scripture because of the way Bible reading is presented by parents, pastors, and friends. We know we should read the Bible, but we have a disconnect between what we believe and how we live. So, let's read the Bible together and build a community that will encourage and help one another as we read and study together. Part of sanctification happens within the context of community, and One More Verse is a resource designed to help people understand the Bible regardless of whether they have never read it or if they have read it a hundred times.
Join us we read the Bible together. The One More Verse plan is a chronological overview which will help us see the Bible as one great story. Let's listen to God speak, grow in grace, and encourage each other along the journey. Daily we will read a short passage; John will provide some notes to help you understand what we read, and offer some questions to help us apply the text. Then watch for opportunities to join John Nix online as we discuss what we are reading.
